very interested in one, do you have any pic's? Never knew IC made a dimmable ballast, do you have any link to info on that? What kind of controller do you use to dim them, Solar 1000?

I have never used the dimming feature. Here is the exact ballast:

http://www.saltycritter.com/lighting...de-ballast.htm

It is the last one on the page. The purple and white wires you see at the top are the dimming wires. It dims 50% when these wires are connected together.

The model number is 400MH.

So, is there any way to control the diming? If I'm reading you right then you just twist the purple and white wires together and the ballast dims to 50% and you untwist them to go back to 100%....right? There's no dimming the ballast via a controller?

Sorry for the all the seemingly obvious questions, but I don't understand why make a ballast that you have to manually dim. If you needed a lesser ballast why not just buy a 175w or 250w?

I never really looked into it, but I am sure you can have a switch on a timer that connects the wires for dimming. It could be something controlled by an Aquacontroller/Reefkeeper or something like that.
