OK. I feel really stupid for buying liquid potassium supplements now. A fool and his money I suppose.

I found a bottle of 8oz. potassium chloride powder for <$3 at amazon.com in the health section (link). That's about 118g of KCl. The website for this product says "100% pure and free of filler". Greg Hiller posted that 7.3g of KCl would raise K by 10ppm in 100G of seawater, so this 8oz would be enough to raise 100G by about 160ppm.

Many people also mention KCl pellets for water softeners would work, but I'm not sure how pure those are.

I'm thinking of trying the KCl powder to raise K to NSW levels when I mix new saltwater, along with my usual alk/Ca/Mg corrections.

Bebo,

I will mix it with SC salt then measure all the parameters before I dump it into my tank.

It's a waste of money for me by dosing two of 500ml Potassium bottles to raise my tank from 220ppm to 330ppm. My net vulume system is 180g. I'll keep you update.

yeah keep this thread updated, my system volume is 300 gallons i went through a large bottle of the Zeo K+ and my level only went up 25-50 points.. there goes $75 for nothing. i would love to use the stuff posted above if it works and does not cause any problems...

Wow that's even cheaper than I had found. Have you used this yet, and if so for how long? What measurements are you using to figure how much to dose?

Good enough for human, but I don't know is it pure enough for fish. Same like the salt that we're eating but not pure enough for fish. I'll let Randy jumps into this.

one 8 Oz bottle is equal like this:

100g=160ppt

so your tank is 2 bottles is enough. If you have patience, wait for me in one week, I'll post the result here.

that means you spend only $6.00 instead more than $100 with Zeo K+

Just checked the alk and Ca, they are the same as last time. The K+ go up 20ppt after adding 4 of KCL teaspoons. Will update more later.
