High Calcium

What are the effects of high calcium in a tank? I tested mine and its over 500ppm. I bought a second test kit to make sure the old one was working properly and same thing.

Most often, high calcium doesn't seem to cause problems, at least in the short term. Some salt products, like Oceanic, often cause high calcium problems.

I use the Kent marine products. But maybe it's the salt mix I use. I make the saltwater from work, not sure what brand we use to mix our water with. For now I'll stop using the Kent calcium, I have some corals that havent been opening up. My pH and alk have been a little low but everything else is normal parameters. I was just wondering if it could have been from the high levels of calcium.

Probably not, but if you're worried, some water changes should fix the situation, assuming there's no salt product problem.
