whats a good protein skimmer and ro unit
i'm curious, ive read about the coral life super skimmer needle wheel protein skimmer and also some good modifications you can do to it. i have a 40 gal and don't want to blow my softies out of the water so i'm worried about the flow rate. also i need an ro unit. does anyone know some good and relatively cheap ideas for my situation?

The corallife skimmers are pretty good assuming your water level never changes. I had to move mine to the display tank cause I dont have a top off on my sump. As far as a good cheap ro/di unit check out purewaterclub.com they are the cheapest I have found and I have had mine for a couple of years now and it works great. Plus their replacement filters are relatively cheap.

The filter guys have very nice and affordable RO/DI units as well as outstanding customer service. Spectrapure units are also very good IMO (also more expensive.)

I like AquaC skimmers. I've used the Remora with success on tanks under 75 gallons.
I'm satisfied with my spectrapure RO unit. |

My aqua C remora pulls a ton of dark green smelly goo. Some people hate them, I don't see how, only thing I can think of is that there are some bad units out there, but Aqua C will replace it if thats the case. Also I think the maxijet 1200 could be alittle underpowered for it.
Coral Life products are ok, I have never heard anything that good about them. I think that the tunze 9002 would be better than the corallife. |
