Question Too much sand??

Is it possible to have too much sand?

I added a refugium to my sump on my 15 gal. I sectioned my sump and added macro and 5lbs of LS and some LR rubble to about a 3 1/2 gal section of my sump. This was done about 3 weeks ago. Ever since then my cal has been 600. Would the additional LS/LR cause this?

What kind of sand did you use, and did you know what your Ca levels were prior to adding the sand...??

Aragonite, Calcium before adding this was 430-500. I had been dosing Seachem's reef complete and Reef Carbonate. I haven't dosed the calcium part in about three weeks

Reef complete has calcium in it .I would back off the supplements . I would check for low alkalinity with those levels .. What was the name of the calcium test kit .?. Ive seen new fresh dead sand do this but live sand already has a biogical coating on it but wouldn't release to levels like that .. something is skewed somewhere just gotta watch the alk and get it back inline ..shoot for like 400 to 425 calcium and 8 to 10 dkh on the alk side ..

I have been using Fastest. I was considering getting the Seachem test. I have stopped dosing calcium. All I dose is for alklinity.
