i think he means 3 tubes... i deal w/ aussies near everyday.. you get used to (most of) the slang

look on the bulbs to see what they have written on them.. and let us know what that may be... then we can help you out a little more...

Silly Aussie...what's a cm...is that like an inch? Just kidding
At my job (theme park) the Australians always ask me, "Hey mate, where do we queue up? You know, queue up!"

40 cm...so from my calculations your tank is about 14 inches deep right? 1 inch= 2.67 cm if I remember correctly.

With a tank that shallow you will have better luck than most with your lights, since most of your coral will be relatively close to the surface of your tank. I think you will be ok with LPS but not with SPS or clams....but...it would help if we knew:

The wattage of your bulbs, and what type they are (T5, CHO, PC). I'm guessing they are VHO's.

Also, what kind of reflectors do you have for them?

by the way,

Nope I'm guessing you have normal output tubes, VHO is uncommmon over here.

Other that that, I think Drew is pretty close to the mark.

Cheers

Paul

PS When will these Americans catch up with the 20th century, let alone this one, and go metric?

No, the question is: When will the rest of the world catch up to us? The metric system is just too logical for us Bush supporters. I mean, is Arnold Schwarzenegger your governor? Or should I say govern-ator? I didn't think so! Plus, we just aren't ready to give up our Quarterpounder-with-Cheeses....

Its OK Drew, we still have the dreaded quarter pounder with cheese over here, and yes, they taste like crap here as well....

Sadly the metric system can't fix everything.

Funny though, ask someone here the size of their tank and they will tend to give the length in feet and the volume in litres....

Cheers

Weird, I thought they called it the "Royal w/ Cheese"...

When I was in Sydney I remember they looked at me weird when I asked for Kechup...then they gave me some funky packet with stuff called "Catsup" in it
