Lineatus with open wound

I have a Lineatus Wrrase that I bought about 2 weeks ago. He is still in qt. He arrived very healthy but he now has an open wound on the top of his body behind the eyes but in front of the top fin. I think he was rubbing it on the eggcrate that I use to separate fish in QT. I fixed it to where it would not be able to rub on it anymore and I started to treat with melafix since last thursday evening. It seems to be getting worse. I don't know how to get my pics on the web to show you what it looks like...Call me pc illerate. It does not look like parasites or anything like that. It simply looks like an open wound. Like as if he has been rubbing it on something as I suspected. How do you suggest I treat it?

The more information you can give us about the tank the better.
What are the parameters? What else is in it? What size is it? What are you feeding (and how often)?

From what your describing, it does sound like he's rubbing on something. The fact that it's getting worse would suggest that he's found something else to rub on besides what you felt you've gotten out of his way.
For the wound itself, the best thing to do is make sure everything else about the tank is healthy to give him a chance to heal it.

it sounds like he is trying to jump and is injuring himself in the process.

do a 50-75% water change. It is getting worse because the water is probably a little dirty. It also sounds like a bacteria infection. Try furazone green or nitrofurazone. furazone green should be at a LFS, but nitrofurazone will be hard to get.
