WTB acrylic rod or similar

I am going to be doing some aquascaping and I thought that acrylic rod would be fantastic for this.
If not acrylic something similar that is easy to work with and reef safe.

Anyone have any ideas where to find some locally?

Thanks
Bryan

some have used the fiberglass rods used as driveway markers for snowplowing. I've seen them in white, orange, and yellow. look at any home depot, lowes or hardware store.

I use the driveway markers for other things but not for aquascaping.

I read about someone using PVC supply line. It is a bit flexible but most likely stiff enough. I haven't used this but plan to try it. I saw it used for aquascaping in another thread in the DIY forum.

It isn't the most rigid but will most likely do what it is supoosed to do.

This is lowes version but you can get it anywhere.

If you are not in a rush www.usplastics.com is great and quick delivery.

Yeah, you can use PVC rod as well for most rocks. Acrylic's a little expensive in comparison

PVC rod? Is it solid or just small PVC pipe?

Ellery. I have looked at that site but unless I am overwhemled with putting this 120 up, I will be needing it sooner than getting it online can provide.

Thanks everyone

Solid Bryan. The rod is usually schedule 80 (gray) which is significantly stronger than the typical white stuff. You can buy PVC rod off of Mcmaster.com and get it in a day with ground shipping. Those guys are wicked fast with warehouses everywhere

Well my sense of urgency has just been put on hold.
Wouldn't ya know it that just when I manage to find a tank to upgrade to, make the deal, etc. my landlord pops in and tells me I have to move.
It seems he cannot keep his own home due to finances and needs to move into MY APARTMENT. How dare he?

So, the tank upgrade is on hold.
I am going to pick up the new tank today but it will sit in storage for a bit.

I just hope I am lucky enough to find another place that I can have the reef tank and be able to set it up properly.

Thanks for your ideas everyone.
Bryan

good grief- the mother of all setbacks.

Look at the bright side- you found out that you need to move before you set up the new aquarium and not afterwards !

That is true Gary. It is the one positive of the situation. But I was so excited about getting the tank, setting it up and getting it running....had so many ideas. Well it isn't like I won't be able to do it, just delayed.
And, I guess, it will give me more time to acquire some items like a better skimmer, auto top off, etc.

All in all, it might work out for the better. But the NERVE of my landlord...geeeeeezzzzzzz....haha

Thanks

Well at least when you find the new appt you can set up the 120 and have it running to transfer eveything into from the 55.

That is all true and if it were going to happen like tomorrow I would be happy. But I probably won't move for 6 weeks or so.
So it will be at least that long before I get to even think about setting up the 120.
At least I have it now.
Josh gave me a fantastic deal. The stand and hood are superb.
Also got some very nice frags from jimmer today and Irwin yesterday. They will have some time to get settled before the move, that is good.
Thanks everyone,
Bryan
