UV steriliser with a refugium

Hi
Can anyone tell me if Its worth adding my UV steriliser back onto my tank with a refugium as Ive been told by the LFS that it will undo all the good bacterias produced by the caluerpa etc.

If you already have it, use it. I use mine to clear up alge blooms and anytime I add new inhabitants (I always QT first ).

Just dont run it 24/7. I use when needed. Does a great job on cloudy water and as added insurance.
