N3gative Cr33p's Nanocube....

I saw a few people putting up pictures of their tanks, so I thought I would throw a few up for my brother....

The pics are a little blue, its the lighting... I'm hoping he will want to go to a lower K rated bulb when this ones done in a few months, but I think he likes how blue it is....

The tank is your run of the mill 24DX nanocube, we took the hood off it, put a PFO pendant over it and have a XM 20K (hence the blue) 175w MH with (2) 32w actinics for supplementation although the 20K bulb doesnt really need it.

Main setup.....

His clownfish "BOZ" hosting the frogspawn...

Picture of all the rock and corals....

The first coral he put in the tank, GSP... theyre growing like crazy... Thanks for the hookup Yankee...

Aeon Flux Zoas... I got them at the frag swap and am keeping them in his tank.... needless to say he will end up with a frag of this...

His candycanes.... There's a green cap behind it and a blue humilis that I won from menard at the skokie swap to the right or it....

The supplemental lighting is just some PC actinics that are stuffed into the pendant with the MH light.... One plug for the PC and the fan, the other cord goes to the MH. We have them both on seperate timers so that the actinics come on and go off an hour before the MH does....

The blue fish is going to be gone if we can ever catch that little bugger.... Anyone who likes damsels needs their heads checked...

Let's see if I can run down the coral list..... man im bored.

Green Monti cap
Orange monti cap
Blue Humilis
Green bottlebrush
Tri color valida
Birdsnest (supposed to be pink but has yet to turn pink...)
Green ________... (cant remember the name, got it in the frag pack from menard at the skokie swap.)
Kenya Tree
Devils hand
Cloves
Xenia
Green Stap Polyps
Ricordia mushrooms
Frogspawn (2 colors)
Candy Cane
Purple Acan
Christmas Acan
Aeon Flux Zoas
Radioactive Dragons Eye Zoas
Eagle Eye Zoas
Tubbs Blue Zoas
Pink Metallic Zoas
A few other "no cool name" Zoas

I think thats about it.

I picked up some "pink" birdsnest at the skokie frag swap this fall and I was hoping it would turn pink but then i was looking online and noticed it looks like the tubs birdsnest that has a slightly metallic green to it and purple polyps... either way I love birdsnests cuz they grow like weeds. In fact, I picked up a metallic green birdsnest frag today.

Looks great! How far way from the water do you have the pendant?

You have all those corals in a 24g tank? Pretty good fitting them all in there!

Those "Aeon Flux Zoas" are actually Pink Aurora Palys:

The bottom of the pendant is 10" off the top of the tank, so the bulb is right around 12" up....

Yep, all those corals in that tank..... Right now we're just letting it grow out some unless either of us see a must have coral....

Thanks for the link for the real names of those palys Jeni... You know how that goes, someone names it something else, then sells it as that, then all the way down the line... Its still probably one of my favorite palys... they look so much better than in that picture...

Good to know some of the other names... Like I dont think I couldve lived with myself without knowing he had reverse gorilla nipples in his tank.

Who comes up with these names.

I believe when someone finds they have an unnamed zoa/paly, they present pics & a suggestion for a name to Zoa ID. They compare the pics to see if it isn't just a morph of something that already is named & the poster gets credit for "discovering" that color. I have them also & by far is one of my favorites. Folks are always asking for frags of them & they frag quite well. They don't even close after you cut them! I'm giving them a break for a while though.

Too late..... you expressed interest, now you're stuck with him.

He looks REALLY cool, just a total bully...... He's fine with the one clownfish that was added at the same time (he still chases him occasionally) but attacks anything else in the tank.... Even the snails and crabs.

I'm hoping when we catch him someone with an undulated trigger tank will want him.

I'm kind of disappointed that you didn't snap a close-up of my Devil's "Mitten", Doug... that's quickly become one of my favorite pieces in that tank.
