New refugium help please

I just finished setting up a 45 gal tank for a refugium and i have about 70lbs of sand for it. My main question is..... How do i add the sand to the refugium without causeing a mini cycle. My main tank is a 125 gal. Thanks!

Why so much sand? Is this live sand or just regular sand? I put crushed coral in my fuge about 2". Pods seem to multiply like crazy in it.

Add it slowly; rinse it before putting in there and you'll be fine; do a 30lb bag every week or two, until you get to the depth you want. Monitor your levels, if your tank handles the new sand well (no change after a full week), go ahead and add another bag. If you see a bit of a change, continue with your usual maintenance (w/c, etc), and wait another week. You can never go wrong in this hobby by playing it safe.
