What do you use for a prop tank?

I am looking to redo my prop tank as I have a 20L tank right now. I would like to find a tank that is about 30x30 square and not very deep, maybe 6-10 inches. Does anyone use a rubbermaid, Tupperware, converted sump or anything that sounds like that? Suggestions would be welcome.

you could build a tank to your exact needs with plywood and fiberglass and epoxy.. or have a glass/acrylic cut to your dimensions ... people have used rubbermaids but beware of the drain plug, it needs to be replaced or teflon taped well.

I've been working on mine, I got this glue container from my shop, cut it down and it makes a great prop tank. TinMan

i built my tank out of acrylic, a 4x3x1 and was under 100$ shipped for the plastic, took a few hours to glue up as i had the palstic cut to size for 5$ more. be careful with such a short height as it will make providing strong turbulent flow a little hard. my tank at a foot tall is actually about 2" too short for the MJ stream to fire both above the frag racks and below them. makes for some great flow though.

thats right after setting it up, now it has 4 MJ1200 streams and a pair of MJ900 streams.

That is awesome. That looks exactly like what I want. I may try to glue an acrylic tank together.I am reasonably handy and would like the challenge. I'll do a search for acrylic DIY procedures. Thanks for the ideas. All great.

just make sure you buy cast acrylic, then just get some weldon #4 and some #16 ( always good to have ) . the glueing part is very simple too.
