redox, the pictures are looking great.

Your PE seemd to be much better since starting the O3 again.

redox,
Do you have any estimate of the power consumption cost of your greenhouse operation?

Actually it was Greg (my husband) that taught me that particular tripod trick, but Hamburglar probably has a lot of good advice too, with his current venture.

So is that what you're doing different? I can really tell a difference in that last set of pictures, much clearer. Looking really good. If we come back down your way any time soon I'll bring the remote button and off-camera Speedlite for you to play with if you like. What camera are you using? I'm sure you said already but I'm not inclined to go look it up at the moment.

I'm looking for a source for bulk dessicant as well, I've found a couple of places online but they are not cheap. Which kind of dessicant were y'all thinking of, calcium chloride?

rusty I just saw your reply and as far as power goes my power cost me at least 250 per month in the gh in the summer. That number is an average of half of my power bill, in other words my bill is in the 500's. I am not proud of this by any means and sometimes the power bill strains my money. And now no rain........How can I fuel my corals when possible water restrictions might be imposed due too no rain and the aquafers are drying up

I'm worried about water availability as well. Durham is on total outdoor watering ban as of Tuesday, and the next step would be cutting into business use of water. :/

The electric bill for me landscape office, one 5 hp irrigation pump and my GH is about $1100 per month. I think the GH is about 70% of it.

Hurts to even think about it

Hey! What's that wet stuff falling out of the sky today???

Just found out my sunroom roof has a small leak in it..... It was installed 6 months ago :O This is the first substantial rain we've had since then I guess.

I am seriously thinking about turning one of my vats into a magrove forest. I just bought a bunch of mangroves and will fill one on my vats with southdown and mangroves as a start. Does anyone know of a place I can find info on mangroves and thier inhabitants?

H2O I am gonna put the rk2 o3 back online but they cant put the order through because they were evacuated due too the fire threat .(rk2 incali and the santa ana winds are....) I am tired of regening the beads and am going back to electronics doing it for me. I must come up with a way for it too be isolated from moisture in the winter? Isolated and still venting itself from the heat it produces too regen the beads? any ideas?

Any way to draw the air from your house or outside, rather than the GH? If its real cold, even if its wet out, the moisture content of the air is lower than the warm humid GH. Cold air holds way less moisture than warm air.

Do you have any newer updated pics of the inside of the whole GH? I am interested in seeing the layout and the vat system and the filtration.

Thanks

no but I will take some updated shots for you. Basically I use lots of live rock and 2 large rk2 skimmers. And calcium reactors and a large rdsb. Thats it for filtration. oh yea I have a phosban reactor going now

What is your flow like? I see you are using a myriad of ways to put flow in your tank and was wondering what you thought your turn over was?
(Just installed the Tunze 6300 in my tank at work and boy is it wonderfull!)

I run 4 tunzes in one vat (sps vat) and the vat is fed by a single gen-x pcx55 (feeds two 1" seaswirls and the calcium reactors) and a pcx40 that feeds a large skimmer. so if you add up the 2 gen-x pumps its about 2300 gal/hr rollover from the sump but then if you add in the tunzes it pushes the flow up to about 12000gal/hr. wow I never really added it up but thats some flow
