coralife clouded my tank
It doesn't seem to be effecting anything, but I was wondering what could cloud the tank and the sides.
I have no testing supplies ATM, but its been 48 hours since I filled my tank with water and salt. Yes, I mixed it in tank, thinking-since theres no sand, not much LR, no biggie. If I took a picture, you'd think I just added sand to it. I have to admit that I used a slightly older bag of coralife, and a newer bag. Am I stuck to scrubbing off the glass and draining the tank? Is there something that easily precipitates out of coralife salt? I read somewhere of this happening to other people, but cannot seem to find the links now (of course, I could look harder too) Should I just wait it out and see? Should I vinegar some of the precipitate to see if its CaCl? What can I do?

The salt might be precipitating calcium carbonate. How was the older salt stored? Sealed or open?

it was an open bag, but closed with its zipper-so, probably had gotten wet sometime along the way. yes, chunky.

What kind of water did you use?

Well, you might be seeing some calcium carbonate, and perhaps some other precipitates. I'd be tempted to ditch the water, but if only calcium carbonate precipitated, dosing calcium and carbonate would fix the problem.

If you dumped chunky hard salt, don't blame Coralife.
I would just wait it out and test once you get good test kit. Coralife is a good salt, a bit high in Calcium, but nothing major. You probably have undisolved solids, they will settle with time. Also, did you fill with water than add salt or added salt than poured the water in?

No test kits, like no salinity measuring device either? Whats your salinity at?

right now its at 1.020 Yes, its low. I ment test kits for CA, MG, and ALK.
Okay, its my fault, I know I know. Its cleared out of the water completely now, and is only on the sides of the tank. SOOO, patience.
