Introduction

Hello everyone. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Kirk and I live in Pendleton (just outside of Lockport.) I'm an aerospace engineering graduate student at UB so money is a little tight, but I've managed to put together a 20 gallon long reef tank. It's been set up for over a year now.

Here are some details of the setup:

- 20 gallon long
- 18 pounds of live rock
- Aqua-C Remora Skimmer
- Marineland Emperor 180 with bio-wheel removed (used mainly for carbon and mechanical filtration)
- Two Power Sweeps (125 gph each)
- 130 W PC Coralife Lighting Fixture (1-10000K bulb and 1-50/50 bulb)

And here is the livestock:

- 2 False Percula Clowns
- A few Astrea, Cerith, and Nassarius snails
- Various Zoanthids and Palythoa
- Open Brain
- Xenia
- Blastomussa merletti
- Green Star Polyps
- Mushrooms
- Pocillopora frag
- Unknown SPS frag (came attached to a piece of rock)
- Crocea Clam

Here is a full tank shot:

And here is a shot of the unknown SPS (let me know if anyone knows the name of it):

For maintenance I change 5 gallons of water per week using Seachem salt, stir the sand bed, change the carbon, and clean off the glass. That's about it.

I welcome your comments on my setup and I look forward to learning a lot more about this wonderful hobby.
