Holy crap that's so awesome! Ever since I was little I wanted to build a huge saltwater pool like that with marinelife. I can't believe someone finally did it!

60 to 65 minute dives! I wonder what kind of tank that they're using, maybe double tanks?? Another good thing would be that you could use pure oxygen since you're not going below 20 feet.

Great diving without getting sea sick . . . priceless!

I'd love for something like that to open up in NJ. Wreck diving here is awesome, but I really gotta pick the right day. If the sea's are too high . . . ughghghghghgh

Several of the principle members of this corporation came to speak to the Chicago reef club back in February of this year. Everything discussed at the meeting sounded great and they even convinced me to sign up as a charter member at the meeting. Unfortunately, the website today looks exactly like it did 9 months ago, and all of my attempts at requesting current info about the project have not been returned.

I really hope this project becomes a reality, because everything they talked about sounded so incredible!

exactly, great idea that a number of people have thought of previoiusly, but the start up costs are incredibly high...think of how clean everyone gets before cleaning their own tanks...and you're going to let just anyone dive in? there are some issues with this...of course, many "real" aquariums do have diving clubs where if you volunteer and pay, you can join and dive in their main attraction tank once a month or so when the rest of the building is closed...

So how are they going to deal with microbubbles from the exhaust air of the divers?

Really, my serious question is.. if the fish come to associate humans with food.. wont they end up becoming little underwater attack dogs, begging and waiting for fish kibble from the divers?

I went to the livestock list and it looks like they are wasting a lot of money in my opinion. Those swissguard basslets ($$$!), gobies and actually almost every other fish will be eaten by the lions and morays. All those crabs and snils be disappear too.

let see

i do not think this thing will ever open. They same info has been around awhile. How do they have all this livestock and plan to open in a few months with no real location yet? Says it will be around an area thats it? Looks fishy (pardon the pun) to me.

It would take quite a bit of care to keep everything living and in good condition.

"Assuming we fill our pre-build memberships quickly we will be opening our doors in the summer of 2006"

so are they saying they dont have the money to do this and need your money in order to complete sounds kinda sketchy to me i wouldnt pay knowing theres a chance that they may not be able to open if memberships arent filled

...and then what happens when they go out of business? How are they going to get rid of all that livestock?

Concept sounds incredible though.

Neat concept, but probably will not work out as planned. Sounds kind of crowded, too.
