How can I incorporate a fuge into this system? Reef devil skimmer & sump on new tank

I just purchased a used 70g oceanic RR tank, I'm upgrading a non rr 50g (no sump/refug just a aquac hob skimmer). One of the main reasons I wanted RR was to have a sump and refug.

The system came with a Reef Devil skimmer

and the sump to go with it that they sell
http://www.superskimmer.com/RD_Sump.htm

The skimmer sits in the first large compartment as it is now. Which leaves only the tiny middle area as a potential fuge.... would you just put some cheato in there and be done or try something else? If supported so that it's not pulling on the sump wall I could do a HOB fuge think, or the skimmer can be run externally... if I angle the sump I can just fit them both in my stand; which would allow me to use the first big section as a refug.

Just wondering what those with more experience would do? Anyone have a red devil skimmer, does it run better in sump or externally or is there no difference?

Last question, if I run it externally where should I place the pump in the sump and where should I have the water exiting the skimmer return to?

THANK YOU!

You could also use another small tank for a fuge that overflows back into the sump

Something like this but smaller maybe.

The sump is underneath the fuge
