AquaFuge Pump ?
Okay, my AquaFuge I'm getting comes with a Rio 400 (144gph) pump, should I replace that with one of the extra MJ900's (230gph) I have or would that be too much flow?

you want to keep a low flow rate, if you want to change it because you do not care for rio's then go for the mini-jet made by the same as your MJ900

I have nothing against Rio pumps (but have heard many people do not like them) as I have no experience with them. I just thought a better rate of flow would be better. My friend has the large AquaFuge with protein skimmer and his came with an MJ1200 for the pump. I actually do have an extra MiniJet 450 that I could use but that's only got a max flow rate of 117gph.

I have a large Aquafuge and it didnt come with a MJ1200. That would be too much flow for this fuge. Mine came with a small Rio. not sure what size.

My friends is the AquaFuge2 PS model with the protein skimmer built in so maybe those models need a higher flow rate pump in order for the skimmer to function properly. So you think that I should leave the Rio 400 pump it comes with stock on my medium size AquaFuge?

yes, that is what my friends is too...an hang on the back CPR AquaFuge2 PS. Mine is the same thing except it's the medium size and is just the refugium, no skimmer.

I put a MJ900 in my medium aquafuge because the pump that came with was too loud. I had to lower the pump from stock to get it below the water level. The MJ900 didn't quite provide enough flow so I added a small stringray filter pump in there to get a little more water movement. MJ900 probably would be ok with the stock configuration.
CPR has a support forum. I asked some questions there before. http://www.cpraquatic.com/forums/ |

Okay, I just got my AquaFuge tonight. I plugged in the Rio 400 pump and it's obnoxiously loud and I definitely want to replace it with an MJ900. The thing is the intake pipe going into the pump is short and I want to put a 2" piece of acrylic tubing on the end to lower it enough below the water level but the nozzle of an MJ900 is not wide enough and I need to find a way to make it wide enough so it's a tight, secure fit...how should I do this (what is the safest way as I don't want the pump to come undone from the tubing and cause damage)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
