I hate ice jams.....
Changing clothes in the spare bedroom, as to not wake the wife, and feel water dripping on my head. Look up and see water dripping off of the ceiling fan....grrrr. Get the ladder and climb into the attic and surprise-surprise..water dripping from the roof and pooling on the insulation. Grab buckets to catch the water in the attic and on the bedroom floor before heading outside to check things out. Use my roof-shovel to investigate things only to find a 10" tall ice ridge running the length of my roof about 3/4 the way up.
Grrrrr..... I can't wait for things to warm up for good......or to get a job where it's warmer all the time. SBC

I am in the same boat. While watching TV last night the wife informed me that there is water everywhere in the spare room...Usually it comes from the fish tank, so this was a surprise. There wasn't a lot of water, few drips, and some damp drywall. So up on the roof I went with a shovel. I put some gutter heat cord stuff to try and help things out. Not sure if it is going to do anything.
I was actually thinking about throwing some salt up there.....not sure if it is a good idea or not....??? |
