yep that is only good for 5 years and a re-cert is almost 1/2 the price of a new tank

As far as I can tell, my Geo is silent, or nearly so. The loudest thing in my system is the maxijet 1200 that feeds my Geo.

praxair is good for co2 if it is close to you.. $16 for fillup on 10 lb tank.

Use a feed pump... gravity might clog. I use a mag 3 for feed with a valve, and a mag 3 for circulation, a mag 2 would have worked .. but that is what I had lying around.

bubble counters... you don't really need them.. mine broke and I never replaced it.

Get a GOOD needle valve for the regulator... I bought mine from marine depot... gives me precise changes.

I use the plastic sprinkler drip valves from HD, change them when you change the media, and it will NEVER clog.

I use small media with geomag.

Most of the time these things are plug and play, but do require a bit of fiddling to get them right.

If you were dripping kw, your ph will drop.

Test the affluent coming out of the reactor when you set it up.. Low ph here is a good thing.

Start with a small bubble count, and a drip rate of 2 drips a second. adjust from there...

There is an article in one of those reefkeeping magazines that is really good at setting these up.

also... test for leaks with soapy water in a spray bottle.

Use teflon tape to seal the air connections.

thank you all...another question...i will be using a MJ1200...do i need some type of pre-filter sponge on it so no debris makes it into the reactor?

I run both a 612 and a 618, they are great reactors. I feed them both individually with their own maxi jet 900, no problems for over a year.

I use larger arm media topped with some ZEO mag, no issues with maintaining the big three, calcium, alkalinity and magnesium.

They both use five gallon aluminum co2 tanks, no problem. They currently both have JBJ regulators and they have worked for over year flawlessly. I just ordered a reef fanatic regulator from PA for back up, everyone says it's the best, we will see. Use only the bubble counter on the unit it works great. No Glycerin is needed it is self filling and very accurate.

I started my reactors originally and 30 BPM for the CO2 and 50-60 lpm for the effluent. It is best to invest in a plastic graduated cylinder to measure the effluent and a cheap stop watch so you can time both accurately.

These setting should give a PH of around 6.8-6.9 in the reactor and you can adjust from there depending on media and calcium demand of your individual tank.
