Shipping should be cheaper since you won't have to pay to overnight any water with it...
I use dead digi branches to mount frags to, but that's kinda' spendy. |

well, i was pretty sure it was bleached, however, a few months ago, i saw an amazing looking coral at a LFS. It was like a branching/encrusting monti, that was alive, and it was creamy milky color. The guy that runs the LFS is an absolute expert, and all the people in the local club like and respect him. Well, he said this coral was from Germany, and was not for sale. I had never seen anything like it, and i wondered perhaps if this coral was similiar.
When you think about it, how neat would a "true" white colored coral look among all the other colorful sps. It would really stand out, dont you think? So, you guys all think its just dead or totally bleached huh? I wonder why the seller/trader still has it listed then? Steve |

Most (not all) white sps corals even living are usually just color loss. I've seen them take up to 4 months to regain color. So just because it's been in the store for 2 months as white and still living with polyps doesn't necessarily mean it's a white coral. I had a purple digi that was bleached white for a few months. Finally, it just began to brown up and hopefully should color up again soon.

my monti lost its color and looks like that, but the polyps come out still, im just hoping it will get its color back soon cause cant the coral starve or something with out the algae? I think it lost its color when i had an alk problem.

I believe rainbowcorals.com has a white digitata that they used to sell frags of. I saw several white digis come in from bali aquaculture last year.

I wouldn't buy a white coral, unless I was observing it's health in person.
Pale or light colored ... I've seen those. But pure white IMO means a lack of Zooxanthellae. Sure, a coral can recover from bleaching/zoox-loss ... but it's long, slow, and a chance. [why buy a weakened coral that's likely to change color?]

Definitely it is bleached. I have 1 right now in my tank. Its still alive, with polyps also white in color. For a sps to turn from brown to colour is easy. But from white to colour, from my experience, i dont think so.
