Acerr, yeah its really hard to feed them. Most food weighs too much or is too big and falls out of their tentacles. I feed my dends first and then blow some of the juice from the food onto the unknown dends and after a when the tentacles all come out, I slowly blow small pieces onto the coral. I also make sure the pumps are off.

Here's the mother colony of the unknown dendro.

Does vivid still have the abuscyla on their site? I can only find the ones for 100/polyp.

HOLY COW thats a massive colony Viper!!! Lots of polyps to feed...........maybe the guy in that other thread should feed each head since he feels that every head needs to be fed.

Viper, can you post a pic of your arbusculas? I have seen pics of it and it does look different than the unknown dends. Maybe you can also post recent pics of your ATL arbusculas you had got a few weeks back.

Acerr -thanks for the link! Very nice site with pics. The unknown looks a bit different than the rhizopsammia verrilli but it could be a possibility.

Qckwzrd, go here:

http://www.marinelifephotography.com...cup-corals.htm

Takes you right to all the pics and all. Might be hard iding some of the corals. However, remember what I told you because there is another site that has even more pics of diff dendro species.

Anyways, I really like the cladopsammia eguchii.

Acerr, you have some great dendrophyllids!!! I too wonder what the unknowns you just got are. They look really small, good luck feeding them,

I like the pinkish dendros w/ whitish tentacles and of course the rhizo is nice.

Great link! So all those corals pictured apparently came from hawaii? If that's the case can corals be shipped out of hawaii? If so I'm gonna make a few calls lol

Qckwzrd, very nice dendros!!! That 12 head colony is really looking nice! About how big is the largest polyp?

I'm not sure about those pics of balano, rhizo, and other dendrophyllids is from hawaii, as you can see it is from some kind of Japanese magazine or book.

Acerr -any new pictures of the weird unknown looking dendros you got? Does it look like baby sun corals???

how do you frag it? See the baby polyp on the right, its growing down, should I cut off the bigger one and save it?

currentking, no need to frag because even though it is facing down, as it gets bigger it can make its body reach upwards to get food, etc.

I have some that were reproduced downwards a bit like yours, they are a bit bigger now and they expand and face upwards. I think its too early to frag the baby as well.

Viper has fragged his dendros a number of times, I am sure he can chime in and tell how he does it. I'm too chicken to frag them right now.

The largest polyp on the colony is about the size of a quarter. The last pic is of the new head I got which is pretty big also. The 1st pic shows another new dendro I have, its in the bottom right hand corner. I didn't show a pic of my two polyp dendro because they look the same, I'll try and get a pic of the baby which has tentacles.

Awesome pictures everyone. All I can say is I think I'm in love!!

I just ordered a dendro polyp and I'm trying to find information on how to keep them exactly. I know they don't specifically need light and need to be fed often. What about flow? It's really hard finding any information on these guys, do you have any suggestions on where to read up and learn about them? Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'm not the only one that needs a little guidance!

RobynT.........dendros are non photosynthetic so they don't need light to live.......they need to be fed.

That said, some think you should place it in a shaded area but many people have their dendros out in the open or near the corner were it gets subdued lighting. Doesn't matter because the dendro should open up all day anyways.

Consider feeding the dendro a few times a week and feed it stuff like chopped shrimp, mussels, mysis shrimp, brine, cyclopeez, pellets, flakes, etc.

As for flow, I have mine under medium flow. Very high flow made my dendros close up because they were getting blasted.
