How does Rhyzotrochus Typus reproduce
Just wondering if they bud like Dendros, duncans, sun polyps, etc., or what.
Thanks |

Hey, believe it or not, but they don't bud like dendros and sun corals but instead have an egg type of thing. Go to jendubs website and then look for her blog. She has some interesting info on how some rhizos reproduce.

It just amazes me that they do egg and sperm gametic reproduction, would such an occurance in a small aquarium be quite a rare thing, and therfore be a reason why they are so expensive?

Are the eggs raiseable? Also shows some budding.

Google translates Japanese sites! Looks like the same thing as Jendub's blog, but a little more descriptive. |

On jendubs site it shows the eggs and then later on it shows pics of one budding. I'm guessing certain species bud and others reproduce via egg.
I still don't see rhizos very often and don't hear of reefers with rhizos getting any babies so I guess they are pretty rare. |

Rhizos reproduce by budding and also sexually via sperm/egg. Then again most, if not all, corals do the same.
