Changing stand??
I just picked up another stand and I want to do a swap...
What I was thinking about doing was taking out only around 2/3rds of the water as well as some live rock and having a buddy and myself move the tank to the new stand... when I set it up I had to move the tank back a few inches (1/2 full) and did it myself so I'm not concerned about the lifting I am however concerned about what ever else can go really wrong..It's a 37 gallon tank BTW 30x12x22 and the move would be short I would have the new stand in front of the old one then pull the old one off to the side and the put the new tank (stand and all) in it's place... Has anyone done this and survived it? or was it one big mishap? |

I would recomend removing ALL rock and as much water as possible ($8 wallmart trashcan) leaving just enough to keep your sand bed submerged. Why risk rupturing saltwater all over your floor and killing everything in the tank to save a half hour's labor?

I thought it might minimize stress on the livestock more then anything..
then I started to think about "what could go wrong" so I thought I'd check and see if anyone had good or bad stories after doing it them self... |

you might min. the stress on your inhabitants but the stress on the tank could be disastrous.
It's risky but very tempting. Maybe you could use more help and rest the tank on 2x4s that your buddies would be holding. That way it might be easier to move and more supportive for the tank. |
