It was because my computer was being retarded and wouldn't accept my commands from my RC account.

Nice Jordan!!

That's an impressive sun coral, nice and big. I have a tiny frag, I'm jealous. :P

My monti isn't doing so great. It started doing badly when I accidentally fragged it off it's base during the valonia removal. I epoxied the frag to another rock, and left the base as is. Now, the base is brown and dying, and the frag hasn't encrusted or grown....everything else is great. Any ideas? I should probably run some tests when I get to my house...stupid monti. At least it's still alive though.

I can't wait until I do Operation Simplify. Coral heaven basically.

Ok I'll explain. Please don't flame though, once I set this up, you all will see the light. Initially, you will think, "135 -> two 20L?! double you tee eff?!" But here goes nothing.

I now have a 135g display and 55g sump, with adequate equipment. Nothing incredible, nothing bad. Just kinda getting my 135 by. In order to make this a great reef, I'm going to need more circulation, more light, and more money. Great amounts of it, as 135g is a lot of water to move, and lots of area to light. So anyway, in an attempt to save money, headaches, and to make my tank much more efficient, I have come up with Operation Simplify.

Operation Simplify is just as it sounds. Simple. I'm adding into the system two 20L tanks. These will be the display. One 20L will be an SPS/Clam tank, and the other will be an Anemone/Clown/zoanthid tank. The 135g and 55g will become enormous fuges.

The SPS/Clam 20L will have a Sixline Wrasse and a Fridmani Pseudochromis inhabiting it, along with 15 Cerith and 15 Trochus. It will be BB to allow for higher flow (SPS); the clams will be placed in lower flow zones.

The Anemone/Clown/zoanthid 20L will have a pair of Percs or Skunks, and a Pistol/Goby pair. Basically will be the "Symbiosis" tank. Moderate flow (correctly distributed) with an SSB for looks. Again, 15 Cerith and 15 Trochus in here.

The fuge will be great. Chaeto, xenia, anthelia, and GSP will be the nutrient exporters, since it will be a "display" fuge (it will stay in the same place as it is now). Larry (the Foxface) can stay with me in the 135g, so long as he doesn't eat the cheato (doesn't eat the corals, so we're good). Overlit, so the macro should blast off.

The EuroReef CS6-2+ will still be skimming, and my Mag18 will be servicing the 135g and the two 20Ls. The two 250w DE pendants will be lighting the two 20Ls. The fuge(s) will be lit with 320w VHO (135) and 96wPC (55). Therefore, excessive filtration, excessive light, and controllable/perfect flow (gate valves are my friend ). Does that sound like coral heaven? Yes? I thought so too.

That was basically it. Look in the thread for more details, back a few pages. I've got everything except the pendants, 20Ls and the stand (deal made for the stand though...aka FREE). So, this setup is way more efficient with the equipment I've got now, and it will be great, and cheaper in the long run.

I forgot to mention that it will be easier to maintain. I won't really have to maintain the fuges much, so I'm basically maintaining two 20Ls, without all the disadvantages of nanos. And IMO nano tanks look cooler, if done right (which in this case, will be done right )

Those are going to be some HUGE fuges...I bet you'll have great water quality though.

I know! I will hardly have to feed, thus making the water quality better...although I'm sure my skimmer plus super fuge can handle lots of feeding.

If pop populations are sufficient, I will be getting a mandarin down the line, don't know which tank he'd like best, SPS or Symbiosis...he would have a grand time in the fuge though

Only us reefers would get excited about water quality and little bug populations. Only us...

Arn't you doing more work in the end? Setting up more tanks and spending money... hwoever you are trying to not to spend money and make it easy?

Are you going to sell frags or something?

It just seems all wrong/ironic.

SO true! So true!!!

Put a mandarin in one tank, and either a 6 or a 4 line in the other. Bingo!

Night guys, I'm going to watch a movie.

Jordo, it's not really more work, just lots of plumbing. Plumbing sucks when you have to make pipes fit with other pipes, in three different sections, but I find it fun when there is some room for error. With this, there is room for error.

The pendants were going to be bought for the 135 anyway (I am selling the canopy, it goes with the 90 I sold, so I'm going open top...looks awesome), so I'm not gaining/losing money there. CTARS members can do drilling for me, so no cost there. And I've got all the plumbing, so no more trips to Home Depot. Just have to whip out the old hand saw again.

I will be selling frags just as I would be selling frags in the 135.

The corals will be much healthier in this system; better water quality, better circulation, etc., which was one of the goals of this system. Healthier inhabitants, easier to maintain, and teenager friendly (wallet wise).

Hey Jordan, what type of setup do you have for your car stereo? I think you said that you've been changing the audio.

And this is after I had a bone marrow evaluation on Friday, so my lower back is sore from where the needle went into my pelvis, though thankfully I'm luekemia negative. But I still have to have monthly or so blood tests to monitor my platelet levels to make sure they return to normal and I recover from ITP (immune thrombocytopenic purpura).
