Thumbs up I Am A Quitter

yup i have to admit i am a quitter

today marks the 2nd week YES 14 days of my sobriety

i have not had a drink in yes 2 weeks its amazing goin from 6-10 beers a night and the occasional bottle here and there me and cynthia agreed to quit drinking together

and yp its bee 14 days
i am so proud of myself i have not gone more than 2 days before in the last 10 years

so what do people do when they wuit drinking ?
all our friends drink or do other things
and we dont do anything anymore except the dreaded tobacco

but i am proud of myself and thought i would share
we are going to congratulate ourselves with a bottle of champagne on new years
that will be 1 month almost exactly
and our sobriety is also what we are getting our parents for xmas cause they were worried abotu us

YEAAA 2 WEEKS
thats 14 DAYS =)

Congratulations! I have to say if your plan is to quit alcohol entirely and not just modify your drinking habits I'd skip the New Years' champagne.

Congratulations!!!

Im not sure what else you could do I guess, same things but with soda?

I quit smoking 47 days ago. And Its funny I went to our fish clubs xmas party and I was in the situation where I would usually go outside and smoke if I got uncomfortable or whatever, it was weird. I ended up going outside and hanging out with the smokers without smoking, I still have a comfort zone there lol

I also have been congratulating myself with gifts I am a proud owner of beautiful new purse!

congratulations! that's not an easy task, especially given what you said were your habits with alcohol. i do agree about the champagne being a bit of a sketchy idea depending on what your actual goal is, but either way, nice work!

Congrats! Now if you really want to improve your health get rid of the smokes! They are a lot worse for you in the long run. An occasional drink is good for you, an occasional smoke is never good for you!

thaks david were doin real good so far the 1st 3-4 days were rough and we both were very ancie and irritable
but after that its been getting easier

the main cause of this was me and cyn. dont get along wonderfully when intoxicated plus we havent been kayaking in like 2 months and $$

since then we have been kayaking again havent had a argument once and have some food in the house yeaaaa
and 1 more benifit also =)

good for you, i have gave up a few small habits but no more booze is tough. When i went on a very strict diet a few years ago i stped drininking for about a year. I don't drink much even now but after a long day of work its nice to kickone back.

Kudos to you for realizing it was affecting a relationship you obviously value alot and taking steps to make it even better.

Congratulations!

I agree the sparkling cider would be a better idea for New Year's. That stuff is yummy and no headache in the morning. My dad has been sober for 35 years tomorrow. Once he realized how much alcohol had controlled his life he quit smoking. He didn't want anything else to have that power over his decisions.

the cider is the plan for x-mas cause we havent told out parents we quit yet and cynthia's parents offered to check her in to rehab for x mas it made her really sad that they could say that but realized we needed a change and they were right.

ive been smoking for 15 years that might be a lil tougher and i ave only been drinking heavily for 10

Well, best of luck to both of you! Just take one day at a time.
Remember there's lots of resources out there if you need help. AA is in every phone book. My dad says they saved his life.

Congrats from me too and great advice given here. Don't "f" it up by falling off the wagon at New Year's!!!

Congratulations on your recent success. To keep successful, I'd recommend avoiding the champagne so soon.
