little update 29g

still in the cycling process but I'm coming close my readings so far are
temp 78
PH 8.2
salinity 1.023
calcium 320 ( still to low )
dkh 12
amm. 0 (comes from 8 )
nitrite 0.50 ( comes from 5)
nitrate 20
Phosp 0

after my cycle is done and I have a couple days O readings I would like to add the folowing clean up crew
Trochus snail 8
super tonga nassarius 6
cerrith snail 12
scarlet reef hermit 10
astraea conehead 8

skunk cleaner schrimp 2

what do you think about this ??
can I add my shrimp at the same time as the clean up crew or 1 or 2 weeks later
also after my cycle ( I have a HOB filter cycling with my tank )I want to go ahead and have 1 percula clown in Quarintine for 6 weeks that is a must have fish and probably the only fish for a couple months
I really want to add some riccordia and some zoos to my tank First

What do you think of my plan so far please comment and give some advice I still have a lot to learn

Its best to design a cleanup crew for ongoing maintenance rather than the ugly initial diatom/algae cleanup. You have a small SW tank and if its properly stocked a few snails/crabs should handle the ongoing maintenance. Forget the hype you read on some of the websites that sell cleanup crews .. a small diverse cleanup crew is the way to go.

PS .. don't waste time testing for calcium in a cycling tank .. calc just doesn't count at this stage and your going to do a massive water change when the tanks cycled anyway.

I agree with Kevin, keep testing the basics and maintain the SG and temperature for now. As soon as the nitrites are 0 and the nitrates are up, conduct your large water change (>25%) and add your clean up crew. I'd wait a few months before adding skunk cleaners; a very hardy shrimp once acclimated, but a little touch and go in the beginning, be sure the tank is stable.

i third that...you want to get the nitrites under control and the ricordia and zoos arent required to have calcium...
thats alot of snails...you could probally cut those numbers in half...i also have a 29g and have 2 turbos, 2-6 nasarrius, and 4 abolone(the abalone werent part of my what to stock list...i got them for my pond but my lobster started eating them)

the list sounds good otherwise...

and for the test that I do am just trying to make it a good habit to test on regular base

Thanks again Kaboke
