I am setting up my 20 gallon prop tank that will hopefully be connected to a 10 gallon sump which will hold my LR.
I added both stands and they are both stable enough to hold the pieces of LR that are at the bottom of the tank. My nitrates have already hit the highest they are going and are now dropping. I figure it will be cycled within a week. Then come the frags! I am looking forward to adding a polyp of micros.

We are unable to get Tonga rock in Australia. It is branching rock from Western Australia. I look for the smallest rock (covered in coraline algee) and cut with a 12" angle grinder (diamond tip blade). It is my first attempt, next time I will get smaller rounder rocks and cut them in half to get a better shape to mount on.
We have been having some problems using AquaNeedit causing the frags to RTN. I now use superglue with good results. The laws in Australia (because of the Barrier Reef) result in no importing of rock or coral into Australia. We have a much smaller market for sps and thus their are no commercial coral prop companies in Australia. A couple of small groups do exist. Most of our collectors will not collect SPS so what little we get is large colonies. Some members of our society are trying to prop and trade small frags to improve captive survival. Couple of close up pics. |
