Micro Nutrients?

I have been adding NaNo3 to my tank for a few weeks now, and a lot of FE+. I have been wondering about other micronutrients, like molybedenium, strontium, ect. Anyone know if there are other things I should be adding to my planted tank?

I know I should be doing more water changes, but I have a large system and it's too easy to just add a cap of this and 2 caps of that!

(Actually, I wouldn't have to test so stinkin' much if I did a stinkin' water change now and then!)

Do you think we can replace the micronutrients with just bi-monthly water changes of 10%ish?

Plants do not need Sr, they do need Mo.

Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe, Mo are the main ones........
SW has lots of B and Cl, Mg, Ca, K+ etc already....

EEK! Copper? Zinc, Iron, Molybedenum I'm ok with! Whats Mn?

I know I can't replace the Fe, No3, Ca+ and bicarb, Mg+ (I've tried! Too much consumption!) with just actual water changes, but the Mo, Cu, Zu,Mn, are they small enough quanities I can just do bi-monthy 10% water changes?

Or is there a replacement product for them?

Hmm... Thats a good question, do we need it or not. I decided to try dosing to get my macro growing again. Didin't seem to do much, but then my phosphates were zero too.

Anyway, if you decide to give it a go, you can get all those lovely micronurtients in one convenient package ad florida-aqua-farms. They have it in a dry form as a "mass pack". It also includes b vitamins and biotin.

Most trace mixes have the metals, you can use Tropica master Grow also, or the Kent product, SeaChem's flourish has a very weak comllex, gluconate, it'll precipitate out rapidly. EDTA, is one of the better chelators for the pH, TMG uses DTPH which is also good up to about 7.5 pH or so.

Most marine mixes have some traces.

CMS from www.greswatson.com uses EDTA iron and a 1 to 2 lb amount will last you several years, maybe longer for only a few bucks.
