yellow and a purple in a 270?

I am looking for another reason to upgrade. I have a yellow and want a purple tang. Will they do ok in a 240 6x3x2?

More than likely, yes. You might see some posturing but there is more than enough room for them to have their own space. I would suggest adding them at the same time.

like jerry said add them at the same time and you should be fine but don't be alarmed if you see some fighting at first and time to time but make sure they are the last fish you add to your tank

I have both in my 260. Have had them together for years. Think keeeping them well fed...plenty of nori helps keep the aggression to a minimum. No doubt about who the boss is however...the purple!

If I were to add, I like to add the yellow first. It will let the yellow adapt and find his territory first before the purple. As you may have read from others, the purple is usually the more aggressive tang around...

I am getting rid of my purple tang that I have had for 6+ years in a 200gal (72x24x24) tank. Mine has been very aggressive and, although the fish is beautiful, it has been stressful to watch it harass other fish in my tank….

I just put the tang in my 70gal sump yesterday and I am going to call some LFS on Saturday to see if someone wants it. In the future I will carefully research any new additions to my tank.

I say yes, absolutely!
its kind of weird that you ask this question, when you get a good amount of people asking if they can keep 3 or more in a 75ga

in fact in a tank of that size... aggression will definitely be minimized between the tangs

I am going to give it a whirl once the new tank is set up. Ity is going to be kind of sad to see the yellow knocked down a rung. He has been the dominate fish in my tanks since he was a baby in my 55g.

Both yellow tangs and purple tangs tend to be aggressive twards other tangs. Not all the time but some times. Purple tangs are more aggressive.
