Generally low NO3, as the biomass increased, the amount of NO3 did not stay the same, so the plant died back.

So you can add more NO3 or prune the plant back at certain point.

See post relating to KNO3 dosing.

You folks can also dowload a dosing calculator so you can accurately measure how much ppm you dose per tank volume also.

I'm making one with Chuck Gadd and making it a little better.
An excel spread sheet will also tell you how much you dose dependent on water changes.

www.gregwatson.com sells KNO3 etc ands you can use Grant's stump remover also.

baruchbl,

When do you have your fuge lights on? Same as tank? Opposite of tank? 24/7? That may make a difference in how your caulerpa grows.

Where's one of these dosing calculators? I could actually use one.

If you have never used one before, ahhhh.........you are in for a treat...............very useful and no chem needed.

See here for a free downloadable version:

http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_p...osage_calc.htm

Adding a known amount of KNO3(in grams etc) to a known water volume(in mls) is how we make standard reference solutions used to calibrate and check the accuracy and precuision of a test method.
