Question Frogspawn or hammer

I was told that this coral was a hammer, but others think that t ma be a frogspawn. Please tell me what you think it is and why. Thanks.

IMO it looks like a frogspawn to me because of the tips. The hammer has more of a curved tip, more like the shape of a horseshoe. Beautiful coral.

Tough to say.. IMO it is a Anchor coral (Euphyllia ancora - wall or Euphyllia parancora - branching). The Hammer coral and the Anchor coral are very similar except the Hammer coral polyps have hammer or "T" shaped tips. The Anchor corals lack the "T" and have semi-circular or sausage shaped tips. I have a simular coral and depending on what polyp I look at it could be any of the before mentioned corals in this thread. Hope this helps.

looks like a frogspawn to me. I've never seen hammers with the smaller nubs on the stalk like that.

Well, lets see what coralsearch says about it.

Ancora: ...Polyps have large tubular tentacles with few or no branchlets...

Divisa: ...Polyps have large tubular tentacles with smaller tubular branches...

So I would say it's divisa (ie frogspawn), or, like the people on your other thread said, a cross.

Hammer:

Frogspawn:

Hammers don't have multiple tips on each polyp like frogspawns do.

Trust me, you have a frogspawn.

FROGSPAWN. Hammers do not have any polyps/heads on the stalks, just at the top. Great color by the way, alot nicer than mine.

Gadgets, do you have a full pic of the said coral? ive had my hammer tips split at the ends, doesnt mean its a frogspawn because it has multiply tips on one tube.

Frogspawn........hammers rarely have nobby things on the stalk. But it is odd that the ends are hammer like. Frogspawn.......final answer.
