Very nice. I would bet that it turns more of a solid pink with green mouths. Looks like you'll have them knocking down your door for a piece of it. I know I would.

I think it's Oxypora lacera, if I were to make a guess.

And at least to me it looks like it's going to a solid deep red -pink (a shade or two darker than the watermelon) with the same yellow/ green eyes. That's my guess at any rate.

I have a piece of the watermelon...Chin_monster, would you take a pic thats not a macro and I'll compare to mine? Mine is definitely as hot a pink as you can get, and thats under PC. I'd like to compare.

Yesh, together. Purple and green seperate though are relatively common in the reef tank - coraline and algae

no algea in my tank, lol but plenty of purple (coraline) I think I have to many corals in the tank so there is no place for the algea to grow on! I only have 24 corals in a 55 gallon and 3 fish with no probs.

thanks for the pics chin. I agree with you, color is darker then watermelon...more bluish. It also doesn't have the neon green edge. Sure is purty though. Great find!

do both oxypora and mycedium develop the larger central corallite or is it just one or the other?

I bet in time it will develop into a very similar coral as the watermelon echinophyllia.
