BAD transaction with steward614

I would like to encourage all of you NOT to deal with steward614, Steward G. Gibboney IV, steward@columbusdiamondexchange.com .

I'm not attacking his character, just trying to help avoid this happening to you!

Here's the situation...

I sold a lighting canopy that was in working order when I had it. It consisted of a 250W MH and 2xVHO setup and a beautiful custom made canopy. The sale price was a very fair $200. I drove and met the guy that purchased it and after that a couple of week or so went by before I heard anything.

When I finally heard something, I was told that the MH bulb did not work. I was a little baffled, as it had worked for me, but I was willing to offer the following:

A. He returns the canopy and I give him a refund.

B. I will pay 1/2 of the price towards another bulb purchased from another person.

C. He sends me the bulb and gives me the money for shipping another one back to him. Or he could drop of the bulb and exchange for another tested and working bulb.

D. I also found an awesome deal on 2 very slightly used bulbs that could be shipped right to him and he could leave me out of it completely.

Do those options seem fair enough?
I thought so too. Especially since I believe that the bulb was mishandled by him.

He chose option C. He sent me back the bulb, but never gave me shipping money to ship him back the bulb. I kept asking if he would send me the shipping money and I never received any response.

Shortly after that, I was told "apparently the transformer doesn't work"... But I never heard anything more about that, it seems he was just trying to get under my skin. I don't believe that it didn't work, he's just a rude person.

A month later, 2 months total after the transaction had taken place, I was notified of a chargeback by paypal. This would mean that he would receive all of the money back and still have my product in his possession. Now don't forget, I had offered a full refund!!!!

Now it has been two weeks after that headache started. I spent at least 45 minutes typing up a response to the chargeback so that he could not walk away with all of the money and still have the canopy, etc. A "settlement" has been made with Mr. Gibboney. He recieved $70 and I got another $80 taken from my paypal account. All that was not working, to my knowledge was a $50 dollar Reeflux bulb, that had 4 months of use on it... HE MADE OUT!!!

So, the score is:

$200 lighting unit
-$6.10 paypal fee
-$8 1 hour driving (round trip)
-$70 Paypal fee (to replace a 4 month old reflux bulb)
-$10 for the paypal response to the chargeback

= $105.90 that I received for a beautiful canopy, a 250W MH setup, and 2x4 ft. VHO setup.

I would say he got a heck of a deal AND a muddied name out of the situation.

BEWARE of dealing with steward614.
