Unhappy Beware: Cat vs. Clams

About a week ago, I lost my smallest derasa clam. It just suddenly died, with no signs of decline. I was puzzled, and could not figure out what the problem was. Then, my crocea (small) died as suddenly a few days ago.

Well, examining the tank, I found that my cat had knocked one of her little toys off the stairs into the overflow of my tank, where it sat pinned against the drain tube for who knows how long.

I imagine that this cat toy, which has tinsel attached to it, poisoned my tank. The only things to be affected are the two abovementioned clams, and my pavonas and galaxia have been in decline over the last few weeks.

The moral of the story is: Examine your tank thoroughly and frequently!
