MH Question
Does anyone have any personal experience with any of the "clip-On" MH systems being marketed by Coralife or JBJ either positive or not? Compared to standard MH setup in a factory hood unit or retro, which would you prefer?

Standard or Retro is my choice. The clip ons are nice, but generally dont adjust to the position you want, without modification.
Plus, the reflectors in them arent really focused well. A good MH unit, or even a well built retro will give better light spread, and allow more mounting possibilities.

I agree with Matt. The only good use for the clip on one may be for a small frag tank (that's even a push) or a desktop mini tank where room is at a minimum

I use four of them on a planted tank and they are nice. If it’s for a cube, mini bow or other small reef application they look nice but in a larger tank you are better off with a hood or a retro fit. What size tank are you setting up? If it is for your twenty nine gallon, it will be fine but watch the water temperature.
