Listing of LFS's

As a complete newbie, something that would have helped me was a listing of the Local Fish Shops and their contact information. What do you folks think about making a list of the LFS's in the Tulsa area and make it a sticky topic - maybe include their area of specialty?

I wouldn't suggest making it a "review and comment" section but it would be nice to have it all in one place to make it handy.

Here are the ones that I have been to and have contact info for: WHO AM I MISSING???

Don't have the contact info handy right now, but PAWS at 31st & Sheridan and the shop in Owasso, don't even know the name of it.

I hate to say it but there is Petco and Petsmart. Didn't PetMart go out of business?

Yes - Petmart is gone - I thought about including Petco and Petsmart, but decided this is a list of Local Fish Stores - so they don't belong on the list. Maybe I'll include them in order to have a complete list, but I'd rather see my $$$ go to a local merchant and stay in the local economy.

As an aside - I just closed my own store in June (not a LFS) and the last couple of days, we gave a discount to people who would give us a list of their favorite local merchants. On those lists people put "GAP", "Hot Topic", "Borders Books", etc. When I asked someone why they put "Gap" on their list since it was a national chain, they said "oh no - it's local! there's one in Utica Square!" ARGHHH!

I think what the TheMcs was talking about is Pet Stop. And they usually have some rare cool fish but are mildly overpriced.

Interestingly enough - the administrators of ReefCentral have set a timelimit of 60 minutes to edit a previous post. I had hoped to continue editing the first entry in this post to make the list easier to see and update as things change, but alas, that is not to be.

Saltwater section is "under renovation"

Southern Agriculture Inc

Bill,
Bixby Fisheries is no more, Charles passed away some years ago. Too bad, he had the best husbandry ethics of anyone. He's who I bought my first tank from.

Fairly new LFS opened in Claremore..

Sea Scapes
341-1400
The owner (Tammy) is very helpfull, she has dedicated a lot of time and effort into helping us get all setup and running. I would recommend her to anyone. It is a modest shop compared to some in Tulsa area, her prices are great and she hand picks her fish. This lady loves her fish and isnt just in it for the sale.
