Euro-Reef Gatevalve Skimmer mod question

Ok i installed the gatevalve on the exhaust side of the skimmer. But even with the valve all the way open the collection cup fills up very fast. Any one know whats causeing this? Is the exhause stand pipe to high is that what affects the waterline inside the skimmer?

Any of you done this to your skimmer that can offer me some advice?

It's either the standpipe and gatevalve setup is too high or the gatevalve is too restrictive, causing the water to backup in the skimmer. Either lower the standpipe(push it down further if possible, or cut it lower) or find out what is restricting the flow.
I expect the mod is taller than the level of the standpipe used to be, and that is what the problem is.

Did you use a water conditioner when filling your new tank? That could cause your skimmer to go crazy for a while.

When you install the Gate valve the Exaust pipe should be all the way down. You now use the Gate valve to controll the water level inside the skimmer. HTH
