Thanks everyone for the compliments and comments.
I love coming on this site to see and read other reefer comrades share their projects and information.
I'll make sure to keep my project updates coming.

could you give us your proposed equipment list? I'm especially interested in what skimmer and circulation methods your going to use. Also, what is your stocking plan: sps, lps, softies, mix, etc...??

Twize replied:
So far this is the proposed plan:
*3-Dolphin 3k amp pumps: 1 to pump from sump to main return, 1 to pump the Surge Tank, 1 to pump to 3-1inch SeaSwirls or 4-3/4 inch SeaSwirls
*100g sump/60g LR sump/50-90g Ref Tank (i'm still playing with the size dimensions on the sumps)
*55g Surge Tank
*1-EuroReef CS12-6ext skimmer
*Koralin 4002 CR
*Lighting, haven't nailed it down yet....but leaning towards T5's,10kUshios and 20kRadiums, wattage TBD
*There's definintely going to be a variety of corals but mostly SPS's. I love seeing frags grow into colonies.
*O yes, I forgot, I gotta have a RC Sohal TANG!!! I love this fish

I'm gonna try my darndest to avoid that so since my pug likes to swim, I'm currently training him to dive and fetch right now
he can hold his breath underwater for at least a minute

Awesome concept! If I spent that kind of money on a tank there would be a single bed in front of the tank vs. 3 chairs

2 questions:
1. How much clearance between the top of the tank and your ceiling? I see that they are 10' ceilings, but how high does the tank go? If I could change one thing on my 330 fish room, it would be to add more room between the tank and ceiling.
2. How big is that refugium? It appears to be sideways in the room, so I can't get a fix on its' length.

Twize replied:
Can't complain, the jobs been great and God's been blessing us abundantly.
A1: I'll have exactly 3' of clearance above the tank. I will most likely have to put the surge tank sideways on the other wall or opposite side wall.
A2: your right, the Ref will be sideways and will measure 5'L x 16"W x 30"T (i'm still toying with the exact dimensions though)

The floor is a solid concrete foundation.

haha a diving pug! Please post a pic of your little pug, I would love to see it =)

They are the most commical dogs that I can think of. You have two things I want now, the tank and the dog.

BTW I hope that surge works out for you, I think that is the most natural wave making method around.

Wow 770 gallons. I am trying to imagine the lighting setup for about 7-8 watts/gallon. How many watts of lighting are you planning on going with ? I estimate 5000-7000 total watts !

What a great project, keep the pictures coming!

I just walked the house looking for a room I could do without for a project like this (probably a wee bit smaller though). The good news is the wife followed me and didn't object too loudly so there is hope!

Just plugging along with my "sump#2" here....

Very - very nice.

I got the plans finalized on my tank stand thanks to a friend of mine (TFP's brother-in-law) who engineers trailers.
The stand will be welded steel 2"x2"x .120" with bracing supports 1.5"x1.5"x .094"

Should be completed on the 21st. In addition, I will coat the stand with Line-X Spray On to prevent any possible corrosion.

I went with this idea to allow more space for my sump, pumps and other equipment.

Will post the pics of the finished product once completed
~stay tuned
