Please help identify!

Can anyone please tell me what the red strands on my rock are?

They stick pretty flat against the rock (doesn't stick out).
I was wondering if I should take the rock out and scrub it?

Is it red hair algae? I can't find any good pictures of that, but the description sounds similar.

Hmmm, I though the picture was pretty good.
But here's a close up...

It's not red hair algae. It just looks like some sort of macroalgae to me, I wouldn't worry about it. I have small strands of it on some of my rock as well. Very slow growing, won't take over your tank. Harmless.

Hate to break it to you but that algae is not easy to get rid of.

The upside is that it doesn't look to bad and won't overrun your corals.

Yikes, that's the sucker!
I think it likes clean water (as I have immeasureable nitrates and phosphates).
I adjusted my flow higher recently, and it bloomed in areas that receive high flow.

Yup, I have it in my 75. But, in my 37 it's barely visible anywhere. The frags that I transfer over will have it disappear in days. The only difference between the two is my 37 doesn't have a Ca reactor or a sandbed. Both get kalk, have carbon & phosban, and get skimmed and fed the same.

I'm not really too worried about it since my SPS will actually push it back and encrust right over it. Don't know how, I'm assuming that they release something that kills it. My tangs and snails eat it as well.
