I don't buy it. Right next door, "The reefs in Aqaba or along Egypt's adjacent Sinai Peninsula are in far better shape than those off Eilat despite thriving tourist industries, a major port in Aqaba and the Jordanian city's release of sewage into the sea after basic treatment"

Gee, I wonder which way the currents flow?

No, they are talking about the food fish aquaculture industry.

A quick search yeilded this http://www.ksuaquaculture.org/FishasFood.htm which put the food fish industry at $51 billion in 2000 with the aquaculture business accounting for approximately 25% of this.
