feeding of gorgonian
I purchased a gorgonian tonight from the LFS.. and while it is a very nice specimen.. I am only now realizing that I am in for a challenge to feed it. As of the first night in my tank I have not seen any polyps (with lights off).. I have read that I should offer phytoplankton as a target food..
I am a responsible keeper as much as I can be. I am working on water params.. PH is a little low.. all else is great. I also target feed my little bubble coral who has had a hard time in my tank. I want to do the right thing.. am I destined to have this gorgonian die on me? Are they a species that isn't suited to reef keeping? I have heard otherwise for some.. and red gorgonian in particular people have said do not belong in tanks, because we do not understand what it is they feed on. Any help is appreciated. |

GOD! The more I read about gorgonian the more depressed I become.. it seems they basically look ok for months after being harvest but then starve to death.. I don't want this to happen to mine?
I hope that mine is more robust.. it is as I understand it is a yellow finger and easier to care for.. a helpful member posted that "I spot feed mine every other day with a mixture of selcon and Kent MicroVert" this is mine: I will research this.. I am scared to death about this thing.. I don't want to let it down. =\ |

My LFS sold me some stuff that he said is exactly the same stuff as cyopleze.. I put a little in the tank tonight.. I hope eventually this gorgonian will extend some polyps and I can relax a little.
