Disposing of Reef byproducts.

Just wondering what everyone does with all there water change water, skimmate etc.
Previously when I was doing fresh water, it was convient because I could water the garden with water changes, and the plants loved all the fish poop. Of course now where dealing with salt water. Seems an awful waste to just go down the drain.
What does everybody do with theres?

When I lived in Minnesota it was used to clear ice off sidewalks, now the water goes down the drain. Tried the skimmate as fertilizer but it worked better as a herbicide, it too goes down the drain.

My houseplants don't look near as good since I went to saltwater aquariums .

Saltwater goes down the drain, too much salt kills plants. Sometimes it gets dumped on the driveway, to help kill weeds, and if theres algae floating around from cleaning LR. Leftover refugium macro goes in the trash to dry out and die, or in another reefers tank (hopefully). You don't want live stuff going into the drain, that's why caluerpa is banned in Cali. Dead fish go into the garbage disposal. Leftover Lugols dip solution gets bleach until clear then down the drain. Apparently, according to eric borneman, concentrated iodine can help foster resistant bacteria, bleach neutralizes it. Does anyone have any other suggestions for reef related waste disposal?

Down the drain, but besides killing weeds with it (just an FYI, when you do that, you do know you are salting the earth?), there is little you can do.

I just have too much (55 gal/week) to do other than drain. Treating the dip is something new I would do from now on.
