2x39w T5HO on workhorse6 only pull 51w?

Ok so I just wired up my T5's on a work horse 6 balast as shown in the diagram here

and its only pulling 51w according to my killawatt.

Am I getting full power out of them or should they be wired like this?

I don't think it would make that big of a difference. But it might as wiring car stereo speakers in a series or parallel makes a big difference.

But then again I'm not an electrical person more of a car electrical person .

Using the second diagram will get more juice to each bulb.

The recommended wiring diagram by Fulham is number 11 (the second wiring diagram) for two T5HO 39-watt lamps on a workhorse 6 ballast.

Using the first diagram will under drive your lamps. This is not recommended with instant start ballasts. The lamp cathodes need to operate at a certain temperature. Under driving the lamps will result in a lower than recommended cathode temperature. This will wear and cause excessive spurting of the cathodes (lamp ends).

One more question, If I were to use this ballast for 4 bulbs like so

would that be under driving the bulbs in the same way?

The maximum number of T5HO lamps a Workhorse 6 can operate is 2 lamps.

damn. Says it has a max of 150w, so does that mean I can run two 6' bulbs but I can't do 4 3'?
