I've used a Magnum cannister with GFO and carbon together just fine. In that case, they were just mixed together.

I have been using Purigen for about a year and I believe it is very good at removing organics then GAC in IMO. It seems like it likes to be tumbled and getting the flow right is key since its so light.

I use both Purigen and GAC sometimes when needed but always try and stick with Purigen, its good stuff.
