Are these fish reef safe?

1. Longnose hawkfish?
2. Copperband butterfly fish?

A little about each would be great!

Like:
Will they eat shrimp or corals; such as, SPS, LPS, mushrooms, softies, zoos? or Cleaner shrimp or Fire shrimp?

All the info needed would be great!

I really like the hawkfish!

(They would be going in a 65 gallon reef tank and only one would go in).

Have never had a hawkfish but I would think a CBB would get a little big for a 65. My CBB has been great not touching anything but they can be hit or miss on being good, I make sure mine is well fed

long nose hawk will eat shrimp and small fish (like clown gobies or the like)

CBB tend to nip fleshy corals (brains, large LPS, clams) and will decimate any feather dusters in the tank.

Both are safe with SPS and zoos

My CBB has never even looked at my LPS as food, but like any fish that is questionable in a reef I might have just lucked out or just havent had the problem yet, CBB has been in for abt 5 months now

No the fish I would be putting in the tank would be pair of clowns, royal gramma, midas blenny, wrasse. Would these be eaten?

Also the only shrimp that would go into the tank would be cleaners and fire shrimp. Could the longnose hawkfish eat them?

Thanks everyone for the help so far!

Longnose hawk (or any other hawk for that matter) will eat shrimp, I've had them eat cleaners. If they can't eat it whole they wait until it sheds or I've even seen them bash a cleaner up against the LR until it was broken up into pieces it could swallow.

Oh wow!

So the CBB and longnose hawk are off my fish list!

If you're adding a pair of clowns, a royal gramma, a midas blenny, and a wrasse (depending on the wrasse), you might consider:

- Talbot's damsel (very small, non-aggressive damsel - mine's full grown at 1.5" and very sweet-natured)
- Clown goby (a ton of personality in a 1.5" fish, may nip SPS but won't kill the coral)
- Shrimp goby with a pistol shrimp
- Blue/green chromis

All reef-safe, invert-safe and should get along with the mix you mentioned. One caveat, if you're planning on an anemone for the clowns the clown goby might not work - they perch (as do hawkfish) and anemones tend to eat tiny fish that perch on them!

Well I hate damsels! I have a yellowtail and I cannot get it out it of my 12 gallon. It is very distructive. It disturbes all my corals and hassles my midas when feeding time comes around.

I'm not a fan of chromis.

And I'm not going to be putting an anemone in the tank b/c it will be a reef and I don't want to have it move over my corals and kill them. So the anemone is out of the question!

Thanks for the suggestions!
