Pic of my first Acanthastrea Hillae

Finally got my first hillae, I've never seen one like it before. I couldn't quite capture the accurate shades of pink and green. I must've taken 50 pics of it by now, but this is the best I could do. One of my favorite pieces.

Is it more like

I just toyed with the colorbalance of it to try to get the sand to appear the way my eyes see sand and hoped the color came through okay. Green is hard to make look green unless its like GSP or some other more plain green coral i think

absolutely beautiful nonetheless. i'm jealous you always have the coolest stuff

Edit: with your description took another shot at it

Wendy: Thank you for the compliment. I've had it for about 2 months now.

Chrisstie: Thank you also. I'd say the green in the pic appears blueish/green when its actually a mint green. The pink is pretty accurate, except the pink in the mouth is more intense then the fleshly part of the polyp.

Yah that green looks right and the mouth is about right, but overall polyps aren't that pink. Thanks for the effort.

Thanks Stoney, grisha, spsgtr. I do feed it once a week.

Here's my story:

Actually both. Got it from reefermadness. Its been in his display tank since I met him. I believe he said he's had it for about 2 years. He told me never saw a hillae that color as a hobbyist or retailer. Of course it could've been a sells pitch, but he wasn't trying to sell it to me. I've been trying to buy that bugger for a year. Every time I went to his place I pointed and asked how much. For a while he always said not for sale. After about 5 times he told me he'd frag it, but I didn't wanna ruin the piece. I always told him I wanted the entire piece. One day he finally threw a price out for the whole piece and I bit. Needless to say he was pretty shocked. When I told Chris I'll take it his exact words were, "are you serious?". Then he bagged it up.

man i wish i lived near reefermadness. all that selection and no shipping.

colorado lfs are crap. one of the most prodominant lfs laughed at me when i asked them if they used a refractometer.

(this was after i lost the sweetest blue yumas, that i bought there)

that acan is sweet. id pay at least rent for it if i saw that in colorado

lol thats kinda disappointing to see things go that way. he had actually posted it on his website for sale. when i tried to buy it he said he was putting together a list for frags and my name was at the top. ive since emailed numerous times over the last year or so wondering about it and was always told "the frag just needs to grow alittle more first". not knocking reefermadness really and by all means congrats all delight on your awesome score. but i had to say something lol.

xdusty6920 - Aww that sucks. Now I feel guilty. I've had things like that happen to me in the past. Not with Reefermadness, but other places.

Maybe I shouldn't have said anything......

Naw Chris had both a bowerbanki and this hillae. He had some red and green bowerbanki's that was also tempting.

Thats a really nice coral . I had bought one that looks like that and was labeled as a acan and posted a pic and everyone on here said it was some sort of Favia .

None the less that is quite great addition you have there .
