Acrylic tank modification

Does anybody know how to make a top opening bigger in a 60 gallon hex acrylic tank. The top opening is only 12 by 6 inches which makes cleaning ,etc nearly impossible. WOULD love to make the opening larger without tearing down the tank. Any ideas????

THanks

ya- but I was worried about the shavings dropping in the tank. Will the dremmel cut clean or create shavings?

Plus, acrylic floats. Shavings + tank + net = solved.

Well - I did the dremmel thing - some floated and some did not. Luckily the shaving went into the overflow system and I had a filter bag on one of the pipes, the other did not and now I have shavings in my refugium. Hopefully they will not be a problem. But, it had to be done - finally can clean the tank effectively without it taking two hours. Wish I would have heard from you earlier Tboninc.

... that's how I cleaned the shavings out of my sump. Filled it with water, they floated. Sorry man. You have kryptonic acrylic.
