octopus skimmers?
I've pretty much given up on the DIY skimmer.. Apparently the parts I wanted don't exist and tired of old men in hardware stores talking to me like I don't know what I'm talking about.. Anyway, moving on..
I've always heard good things about octopus skimmers but thought I'd ask you all also.. They're fairly inexpensive also so I'm going to save tips from work and get one in a couple months.. It's only a 20gal tank so their smallest one or the next one up should work fine.. Just looking for opinions.. |

I've got one on my 180. Works pretty well. There are some mods available, that claim to improve performance. They do leak like a sieve, but it is not really a problem if you have it in your sump.

Are you talking about the octopus or the typhoon?

Just in case, I was referring to the octopus ones. Ours have never leaked.

The Octo skimmers seem to have quite a following. They have HUGE thread in the equipment forum. They seem to be the new budget skimmer, what I think ASM was once for a while. But ASM seems to have fallen out of favor.
