This skimmer is or is close to an older Deltec design, true? What models are the Ex-2 and EX-3 comparable with?
Thanks for the input on model selection! Will be ordering the EX-3 in the morning. Hope to receive it in the next two months :-)

I just ordered an EX-2 and I would like to have all my plumbing parts in advance. Can anybody tell me what I will need to gravity feed it. What size is the input and output? I tried to locate a manual, but haven't been successful. I know petorama has it on their website, but the link doesn't work. Can someone please shed some light on this subject?
Thanks in advance! |

Hey guys, I'm just starting my research for a skimmer for a possible new tank, probably a 37g Oceanic.
Two questions - the DAS EX1 is a recirculating skimmer, right? Also, anyone compared these to the Tunze 9005 or 9010? Thanks! Aaron |

I got my EX2 in today. Wish I would have seen your post before I installed it. I can tell you it's right at 27 7/8" tall. It's about 10 3/4" across the pumps and about 15" from the pumps to the exhaust outlet. It was shipped well (packed by an instapack machine) and went together easily though there were no instructions of any kind. I'm feeding it with a MJ1200. It is full of water/foam to within 1/2" from the top of the cup and making some dirty skimmate from then on. My first impression is good. It looks like someone knew what they were doing when they made this one. I have to admit I was surprised to see it start pulling skimmate so quickly (within 5 minutes of set up) as I run a ridiculous Beckett skimmer this may replace. We shall see!

rishma I think you asked me this in my tank thread and I never responded. first, it should fit in a 10g AGA as that is what I have for a sump, and even though I run mine externally I could have put it in there.
Here are the approx. dimensions of the skimmer: 23.5" H 15" from aquabee to outlet t-pipe 7" side to side |

As of yesterday they are still not in stock at Orca Systems.
Still getting the "should be in today" shtick. Been telling me that for over a month now.

Its not ORCA's fault... well... not really. I suppose they shouldnt string people along into thinking it wont be so long, but it appears that DAS is the real culprit. They just cant keep up with the orders I suppose... so they arent sending ORCA the skimmers. ORCA knows this is a problem though, and may drop the DAS all together in favor of another pump line in the near future.

so petorama has priority over orca? because I ordered mine at the same time as others have here but from petormama instead of orca... needless to say I've been enjoying the skimmer for weeks now.

I must say i got the same thing from Orca and got sick of it "AFter a few months it gets old". So i emailed Petorama late last night first think this morning, Customer service said they had plenty in stock and would ship out same day if order got in early enough, latest tomorrow.
This is for the EX 1 Well i already have a UPS tracking # i chose the 2nd day air since it was only $25. I have had problem with Petorama in the past but they are on the ball for this order. At this point i would definetly recomened them over Orca |

Hi everyone,
I am in the market for an in-sump plug and play skimmer for my 55 gal. tank and 15 gal. sump FOWLR setup. I am currently looking at the DAS BX-1 and H&S 90-F1000, H&S 90-F2000 skimmers. How do these stack up against each other and how to compare as far as performance, durability and ease of use and maintenance. Thanks, Gary |

I would think the DAS ex-1 would be better than the H&S because it is very similiar in design, but a recirc. I would go with the das ex-1 over the bx-1 for the same reason.
